Since 1989, Real Options has led the fight to protect the most vulnerable in our society, the unborn. In the last 10 yrs alone, 1,620 babies have been saved from abortion because of our efforts.
We glorify God by valuing life, sharing truth, and restoring hope.
For over 30 years, Real Options has been committed to creating a culture of life, where abortion and sex outside of marriage are not chosen. We pray for the day when our services are no longer needed, however, we aren’t there yet. We are still fighting for that day.
Real Options strives to fulfill this mission through three main facets of ministry:
In October of 1986, above the Queen of Hearts costume shop in Plano, Real Options’ story began as a satellite of the Dallas Pregnancy Center. By April 1987, funds had dried up, and the center was in danger of closing, but we did not give up. Instead, we reincorporated independently as the “North Dallas Crisis Pregnancy Center.” In 1991, our name changed to “Crisis Pregnancy Center of Collin County,” as we were the only pregnancy center serving this county. In 1993, we made a HUGE leap of faith to “go medical” and became the first crisis pregnancy center in Texas to offer medical services, including sonograms!
Due to those new services, we changed our name to “Crisis Pregnancy Clinic of Collin County.” A few years later, to represent how we walk with women in unplanned pregnancies, we changed our name AGAIN to “Women-to-Women.” We then became laser-focused on our mission as we redirected our counseling, marketing efforts, and office décor to intentionally reach more abortion-minded women.
In 1999 we saw an opportunity to prevent unplanned pregnancies by proactively educating our young people through our new 180 Degrees abstinence program. In addition, we launched another new medical service, STI screening, and treatment. In 2000 we changed our name to Real Options for Women in a continued effort to appeal to the woman considering abortion.
In 2004, RO was once again a leader in offering advanced medical services as we acquired a 3D sonogram machine. In 2011, we launched Real Options on Campus (ROC) to reach the college-age woman, who is one of the most abortion vulnerable populations. Then in 2012, RO increased its credibility, defensibility, and effectiveness by implementing a Linear Service Model.
After years of serving our community, we knew we needed a “refresh” to appeal to our ever-changing clients. Thus, in 2018, we rebranded, created a new logo, and made our final name change to “Real Options,” which emphasized that men play a vital role in a decision for life. In 2019, we doubled our footprint by moving to our current Allen location and adding more counseling and sonogram rooms. To serve our clients more holistically, RO began a partnership with Meier Clinics to offer free professional counseling.
In 2021 we became proud “parents” of our mobile unit, Zoe, which allows us to provide counseling and sonograms ANYWHERE. The Lord provided a way for us to open a new location in the fast-growing area of Melissa, TX in 2022. In 2023, we started our Men and Family Outreach program with Elite Dads fatherhood workshops, parenting classes, and jail ministry. Coming up in fall 2024, RO will partner with the Dream Center Dallas to open another RO location in South Oak Cliff.
It has been an incredible journey of tenacity, innovation, courage, and faith, and we can’t wait to see what God does next!
Credibility (capable of being believed, trustworthy) - We speak truth to clients, donors and the public.
Perseverance (persistence in an undertaking) - We will persist in pursuing our mission despite the difficulty.
Creativity (investing with a new form) - We are free to think and act outside of convention in order to achieve our mission.
Compassion (sympathetic consciousness of other’s distress together with a desire to alleviate it) - We take as our example Jesus Christ, who combined sympathy with action.
